In November 2020, as the nation suffered from the pandemic and the economic shock, two blocks of Nehru Nagar, Patna received warnings of impending penalties if they continued to access electricity illegally. Unaware of how to counter this, SEWA’s women members turned to the organisation for help. SEWA took up the task and carved a unique method – offering these households metered electricity connections as well as documentation for strengthening tenure.
