About SEWA Bharat:

Self-Employed Women’s Association (SEWA) is a movement to empower women working in the informal economy. SEWA Bharat is part of the national SEWA movement. Established in 1984, it is a national federation of SEWA organizations of women working in the informal economy. SEWA Bharat emerged out of the need to address the SEWA movement’s challenges with geographical expansion and coordination. SEWA Bharat comprises a family of SEWA organizations to further informal women workers’ rights, livelihoods, financial independence, education, health and social security.

About WESS:

SEWA Bharat has set up the Women’s Enterprise Support System (WESS) that strengthens and builds resilient women-owned collective enterprises which keep the shareholder i.e. the women worker at the centre of its operations, leadership and business model. WESS helps these collective enterprises to scale and become sustainable thus ensuring regular, continuous and dignified work for the women associated with the enterprise. The programme also engages policymakers and private sector players in creating a more enabling environment for grassroots women entrepreneurs and collective enterprises.

Job Description:

WESS is seeking a dedicated Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Associate to join the dynamic team that works to strengthen women-owned enterprises. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in overseeing and coordinating various aspects of the programme. As a MEL Associate, you will have the opportunity to be a catalyst in shaping this transformative journey, driving meaningful impact and paving the way for a brighter future for women’s enterprises within India’s informal economy.

  • Design & implement/integrate MEL frameworks and tools for the programme on women-owned collective enterprises
  • Support our external and internal evaluations which include developing instruments, analytical frameworks, schedule for data collection and reports and conducting training of relevant team members
  • Support the programme team with the capacity building, tracking, reporting and implementation of monitoring processes as per requisite quality standards
  • Analysis of programme-based monitoring systems and evaluation results to inform programmatic improvements and changes
  • Support the development of a logical framework, indicators and evaluation plans for the programme
  • Provide the programme coordinator and other stakeholders with monthly and quarterly analysis of data
  • Identify and report any implementation challenges of the programme and design strategies to mitigate the same
  • The candidate will aid the programme team in creating quarterly and annual reports and other relevant documents as required for programme documentation
  • Participate in annual programme reviews and planning workshops
  • Assist in the overall development of MEL frameworks and processes in the organization
  • Promote learning as an integral component of the programme and support the programme team to provide evidence in internal and external platforms
  • The candidate will be a primary point of contact for all MEL-related activities within the programme
  • Support and lead organization-wide thematic capacity-building sessions to improve organizational knowledge on MEL

Key Skills and Qualifications:

  • Post Graduate preferably in Statistics/Data Sciences/Economics and other relevant disciplines
  • Strong qualitative skills and quantitative social research techniques
  • 5-6 years of experience in a similar role, handling MEL components in Livelihood or Entrepreneurship projects/programmes
  • Experience of developing research protocols, sampling, the development of MEL indicators and measures
  • Proficiency in MS Office Tools (Excel, Powerpoint and Word)
  • Strong experience in using statistical software for quantitative data analysis like Excel and additional softwares (SPSS, STATA, etc.)
  • Experience in qualitative analysis
  • Strong writing skills with attention to detail and the ability to document accurately and comprehensively
  • Strong communication skills (written and oral) to effectively correspond with a diverse audience with the ability to tailor language, tone, style and format to match the audience
  • This role would require proficiency in English and Hindi
  • Willingness to travel extensively to the field locations of the enterprises and programme activities which are mostly located in rural India
  • Ability to handle work pressures and deliver under tight schedules, work well and lead teams, when required to do so
  • An understanding of social/development sector issues in the livelihood ecosystem with a specific interest in Entrepreneurship and Women’s Collective Enterprises
  • Attention to detail to effectively make connections between programmatic and organizational strategic priorities and MEL work
  • Clarity of thought, patience, a flexible attitude and a willingness to learn and take ownership are also required

Remuneration:

6-8 LPA

Location:

New Delhi (with extensive travel to SEWA states)
