About SEWA Bharat:

Self Employed Women’s Association (SEWA) is a movement to empower women working in the informal economy. SEWA Bharat is part of the national SEWA movement. Established in 1984, it is a national federation of SEWA organizations of women working in the informal economy. SEWA Bharat emerged out of the need to address the SEWA movement’s challenges with geographical expansion and coordination. SEWA Bharat comprises a family of SEWA organizations to further informal women workers’ rights, livelihoods, financial independence, education, health and social security.

SEWA Bharat runs a programme to strengthen and build resilient women-owned collective enterprises which keep the shareholder i.e. the women worker at the centre of its operations, leadership and business model. SEWA Bharat is building an enterprise development team called the Women’s Enterprise Support System (WESS) to help these collective enterprises scale, and become sustainable to ensure regular, continuous and dignified work for the women associated with the enterprise. WESS provides in-depth support to collective enterprises in the areas of access to finance, strategic planning, compliance, and marketing to make these enterprises profitable and sustainable in the long run. WESS has a small yet enthusiastic team of professionals who are passionate about promoting women’s economic empowerment with a network of industry mentors, working under the guidance of an advisory board of SEWA leaders and experts.

Scope of Work:

We are seeking initiative-taking professionals with experience in Marketing, both offline and online, to join our team. As the Marketing Associate for the WESS & for the collectives it supports, you will be responsible for developing and executing strategic marketing initiatives that raise awareness, drive engagement, and support WESS’s mission. You will play a key role in shaping our brand identity and expanding our reach within the community and beyond. The role will be working with multiple enterprises and livelihood collectives, thus the person applying should be driven, results-oriented and a self-starter. All campaigns will be designed and implemented in collaboration with the enterprise or collective they are made for. The WESS team co-creates with the enterprises and works collaboratively with the women, keeping them at the centre of all interventions.

Tasks and Deliverables:

● Develop and implement comprehensive marketing strategies for WESS to promote our mission and the products/services of the enterprises/collectives.
● Create compelling content for various platforms including social media, blogs, newsletters, websites and all other marketing-related collaterals like posters, banners, catalogs, presentations, etc.
● Manage the enterprises’ brand identity, ensuring consistency across all communication channels
● Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support fundraising efforts, product launches, and enterprise-related events
● Build and nurture relationships with stakeholders, including customers, donors, partners, and media
● Analyse marketing metrics and insights to optimize campaigns and drive continuous improvement
● Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in marketing in the development sector & otherwise
● Lead the development of innovative campaigns to engage our target audience and expand the customer outreach for each collective we work with, for both offline and online marketing
● Monitor and report on the effectiveness of marketing activities, demonstrating ROI and impact

Reporting:

a. Maintain reports and other relevant documentation for all enterprises/collectives in context of the business growth work
b. Updates, analysis and learnings to be shared with the other members of the WESS team, the WESS Board, programme coordinator and other stakeholders as and when required
c. This role shall report to the Business Development Coordinator of WESS

Key Skills and Qualifications:

● Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business Administration, or related field
● Prior experience of 3-4 years in marketing, Experience of working with social enterprises or livelihood initiatives in the not for profit space will be helpful for the role
● Strong understanding of social impact
● Excellent written and verbal communication skills
● Proficiency in digital marketing tools and platforms (e.g., social media management, email marketing, analytics)
● Creative thinker with the ability to develop and execute impactful marketing campaigns, especially for offline marketing
● Strong project management skills and attention to detail
● Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, cross-functional environment
● Passionate about women’s livelihoods and entrepreneurship and contributing to their economic empowerment

Additional Requirements:

Willingness to travel to peri urban and rural locations on a monthly basis.
Fluency in Hindi is a must; proficiency in other languages is an advantage

Location:

New Delhi (with frequent travel to rural and peri-urban locations on a monthly basis)

Salary and Benefits:

Compensation will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
