About SEWA Bharat:

Self Employed Women’s Association (SEWA) is a movement to empower women working in the informal economy. SEWA Bharat is part of the national SEWA movement. Established in 1984, it is a national federation of SEWA organizations of women working in the informal economy. SEWA Bharat emerged out of the need to address the SEWA movement’s challenges with geographical expansion and coordination. SEWA Bharat comprises a family of SEWA organizations to further informal women workers’ rights, livelihoods, financial independence, education, health and social security.

Job Description:

The Learning Hub team at SEWA Bharat is looking for an experienced editor to assist in editing and proofreading all research outputs and related project deliverables for the organisation. This role will involve working closely with different research team members to close out compelling written content that effectively communicates different research findings and insights to various audiences and other relevant stakeholders. This position will be a part-time role.

Key Skills and Qualifications:

  • More than 2 years of experience in a copywriting or editing role
  • Degree in Communications, English, Journalism or related field
  • Knowledge of online content strategy and creation
  • Exceptional English writing, editing and proofreading skills for research reports, articles, concept notes and case studies
  • Page design skills are favourable
  • Creativity and collaboration skills
  • Excellent time-management and organisational skills
  • Can work independently and with minimal supervision
  • Preference for candidates with past experience of working with a grassroots organisation

Tasks and Deliverables:

  • Create engaging copy for research reports, articles, case studies, blog posts, and factsheets
  • Ensure accuracy, coherence and consistency of information presented in written materials, adhering to style guideline
  • Collaborate with different stakeholders to provide editing support for various research and allied initiatives including grant proposals, funding pitches, presentations and more
  • Review and edit written content by members of the research team for maintaining high standards of consistency and quality 

Compensation:

The remuneration will be on the basis of the number of pages written. Rs. 130/page.
