About SEWA Bharat:

Self Employed Women’s Association (SEWA) is a movement to empower women working in the informal economy. SEWA Bharat is part of the national SEWA movement. Established in 1984, it is a national federation of SEWA organizations of women working in the informal economy. SEWA Bharat emerged out of the need to address the SEWA movement’s challenges with geographical expansion and coordination. SEWA Bharat comprises a family of SEWA organisations to further informal women workers’ rights, livelihoods, financial independence, education, health and social security.

About BCC:

Bihar Mahila Sewa Bachat Evam Sakh Swablanbi Sahakari Samiti Limited, also called Bihar Credit Cooperative (BCC), is a women-owned state-level credit cooperative that was established in 2012 in line with the Self-Help Group Initiative to provide better credit and savings options to women and has grown significantly, with around 12,000 active female members currently. It was established to provide a credit alternative to the high-interest rates charged by individual moneylenders and to address the limited access to credit faced by women in the informal economy. Today BCC has 5 branches – Bhagalpur, Katihar, Bariyarpur, Munger, and Kharagpur in Bihar.

We are seeking professionals with a background in business or finance to lead the operations and management of the Bariyarpur branches at BCC.

Responsibilities:

1. Leadership and Team Management:

  • Supervise and guide the team to help them develop their skills.
  • Motivate team members to meet individual and collective targets.

2. Planning and Target Achievement:

  • Monitor daily operations and performance of the branch, meet the targets, and resolve any issues or challenges.
  • Plan with the field team and office team to achieve the targets.

3. Report Preparation and Review:

  • Review all reports received from the branch and prepare monthly reports, such as the Monthly Progress Report (MPR), Income-Expenditure Report (P&L), Loan Recovery etc.
  • Review monthly expenses, travel allowances, Bank Reconciliation Statements (BRS), and monthly report etc, and submit them to the Senior management.

4. Loan Operations and Verifications:

  • Loan Disbursement: Oversee the loan approval and disbursement process, ensuring accuracy and compliance with policies.
  • Loan Repayment Monitoring: Track repayment schedules, ensure collections are timely, and address delays immediately.
  • Loan Verification: Conduct periodic verifications of loans issued to ensure authenticity and adherence to guidelines.

5. Accounting and Financial Management:

  • Financial Oversight: Manage all branch-level accounting processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Reconcile daily cash collections and ensure deposits in the bank.
  • Update the cash book daily and ensure accurate cash closing in the branch.
  • Monitor daily data entry and ensure accurate information is recorded in the software system.

6. Reporting and Documentation:

  • Ensure proper filing of daily receipts, cash vouchers, payment vouchers, and other documents.
  • Oversee the Data Entry Operator’s activities to ensure all records are accurate and up-to-date.

7. Internal Control and Quality Assurance:

  • Maintain Standards: Ensure adherence to organizational policies and procedures in all branch operations.
  • Fraud Prevention: Monitor processes for fraud prevention
  • Quality Checks: Conduct random quality checks in the field

Education and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in commerce, finance, business or other related fields.
  • 2-5 years of experience in the banking industry or finance or business development roles will be preferred.

Location:

The position is based out of Bariyarpur Block, Dist. Munger, Bihar.

Compensation:

Rs. 18,000 to 20,000 per month, commensurate with the candidate’s experience.
