About SEWA Bharat:

Self-Employed Women’s Association (SEWA) is a movement to empower women working in the informal economy. SEWA Bharat is part of the national SEWA movement. Established in 1984, it is a national federation of SEWA organisations of women working in the informal economy. SEWA Bharat emerged out of the need to address the SEWA movement’s challenges with geographical expansion and coordination. SEWA Bharat comprises a family of SEWA organisations to further women workers’ rights, livelihoods, financial independence, education, health and social security.

Overview:

SEWA Bharat has a programme called the Women’s Enterprise Support System (WESS) whose objective is to bolster grassroots women-owned collective enterprises. The WESS offers comprehensive support through access to finance, strategic business planning, accounts and compliance, and access to market to help these enterprises reach sustainability.

The WESS programme is seeking a dedicated Assistant Project Manager to join the dynamic team that works to strengthen women-owned enterprises. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in overseeing and coordinating various aspects of the programme. As an Assistant Project Manager, you will have the opportunity to be a catalyst in shaping this transformative journey, driving meaningful impact and paving the way for a brighter future for women’s enterprises within India’s informal economy.

Key Responsibilities and Tasks:

Project Tracking and Reporting: 

  1. Monitor and track the status of programmatic work being done, ensuring projects are on track and milestones are achieved. 
  2. Maintain a regular rhythm for progress updates and reporting to internal and external stakeholders. 
  3. Establish and maintain a project management structure, including monthly progress reports and quarterly reports submitted by enterprises, partners, consultants etc. 
  4. Ensure the effective utilisation of project management tools, such as Slack, Trello, WESS Work Tracker, and WESS Journey sheet.
  5. Support the quarterly and annual documentation for the programme.

Stakeholder Engagement: 

  1. Organise weekly catch-up meetings to facilitate communication among teams and share high points or achievements. 
  2. Conduct quarterly review meetings with teams to assess progress and address challenges. 
  3. Supervise third-party contracts and manage their renewal when required. 

Budget Management: 

  1. Ensure efficient utilisation of project and administrative budgets through regular budget reporting and meetings. 
  2. Share regular budget utilisation reports with programme teams. 
  3. Collaborate with the Programme Manager, finance and administration teams to establish and maintain budget utilisation practices. 

Stakeholder Travel and Event Planning: 

  1. Systematically coordinate bookings and travel arrangements for external stakeholders with the support of relevant team members. 
  2. Plan, monitor, and coordinate workshops and events related to the WESS initiative.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • 2-4 years of experience in project management or a similar role. 
  • Highly organised and able to multitask and manage time. 
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills. 
  • Excellent verbal and written skills in Hindi and English.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team. 
  • Candidate is expected to travel to project areas on a monthly basis.
  • Proficient in Google Suite and Microsoft Office tools.
  • Experience in working on project management tools is desirable.

Base Location:

Delhi (with frequent travel to project locations)

Compensation:

INR 50k to 55k per month negotiable, commensurate with experience and qualifications
