Reconstruction of Seema Ben’s house: Better housing conditions instils a sense of relief
West Delhi
Seema ben has been a resident of the Jhuggi Jhopdi cluster in Raghubir Nagar, since she was a child. After her marriage 25 years ago, she moved to the adjacent resettlement colony in F Block. With guidance and help from SEWA’s Zamini Adhikaari Abhiyan (programme), Seema ben took a decision to permanently improve the condition of her home and invest in her children’s future. In June 2022, she took a loan from SEWA’s Delhi Credit Cooperative for reconstructing her house. The case study depicts how she was able to resolve the infrastructural deficiencies impacting her house and build additional floors for rental income which helped with repaying her loan. Seema ben is now confident in managing her finances independently
