About SEWA Bharat:

Self Employed Women’s Association (SEWA) is a movement to empower women working in the informal economy. SEWA Bharat is part of the national SEWA movement. Established in 1984, it is a national federation of SEWA organizations of women working in the informal economy. SEWA Bharat emerged out of the need to address the SEWA movement’s challenges with geographical expansion and coordination. SEWA Bharat comprises a family of SEWA organizations to further informal women workers’ rights, livelihoods, financial independence, education, health and social security.

Program Description:

MOVE (Mahila-Owned Viable Enterprises) an initiative by SEWA Bharat, explores the Power of Collectives through Mobilization for the Economic Empowerment of Women Workers at the Base of the Pyramid. Within MOVE, WESS (Women’s Enterprise Support System) is an intervention that acts as a hub catering to a selected cohort of grassroots women-in-business: any sector, any stage, any place. WESS gives in-depth business support integrated with mobilizing and social protection with the goal of putting them on the path of financial sustainability. Our core strength is in the ability to nurture the leaders of informal women workers to self-govern and self-manage the enterprise. We currently support 12 Collective Social Enterprises, across 6 states, 6 sectors, and at multiple stages of growth.

Job Description:

As a Graphic Designer you would be required to closely work with the communication team to produce visual designs catering to different enterprises and the WESS itself, employing a strong grassroots lens. The person would also be required to provide guidance on the best and most relevant visual design practices suitable for different stakeholders. This will involve ideation, production, and execution of creatives in the form of:

  • Brand Identity Design (logo, visual mood board, brand guidelines, etc.) for WESS and social enterprises supported within its cohort.
  • Multilingual offline collaterals such as pamphlets, banners, ID cards, etc. for the SEWA Bharat supported women-owned social enterprises across various sectors such as artisanal, agricultural, and financial.
  • Online collaterals such as social media content, website content, thematic vectors etc.
  • Actively contributing to the outreach activities for WESS with relevant design inputs such as pitch decks, presentations, etc.
  • Creation of IEC materials such as posters, vectors, etc. in accordance with local context and relatability for upskilling of women micro-entrepreneurs
  • Contribution to peer learning by organizing or facilitating design workshops for SEWA Bharat staff and field mobilizers (training in fundamentals of visual design such as color, typography, and composition; training in software such as Canva, etc.)

Key Skills and Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3-5 years of relevant graphic design experience
  • Prior experience working in the development sector preferred
  • Substantial experience in applications such as Illustrator, Photoshop, Canva, or equivalents
  • Proficiency in Hindi and English
  • Attention to detail and enthusiasm for field-work
  • Ability to work with multiple stakeholders at the same time
  • Open to field visit


The position is based out of Delhi (New Delhi) but the candidate must be willing to travel to different states as per the project/ organization requirement.
