About SEWA Bharat:

Self-Employed Women’s Association (SEWA) is a movement to empower women working in the informal economy. SEWA Bharat is part of the national SEWA movement. Established in 1984, it is a national federation of SEWA organizations of women working in the informal economy. SEWA Bharat emerged out of the need to address the SEWA movement’s challenges with geographical expansion and coordination. SEWA Bharat comprises a family of SEWA organizations to further informal women workers’ rights, livelihoods, financial independence, education, health and social security.

Job Description:

The freelance graphic designer will be closely working with the communications team to produce visual designs catering to the creation of Information, Education and Communication (IEC) materials.

What are IEC materials?
Information, Education and Communication (IEC) materials are resources that are used to convey important information related to government schemes, health, and other crucial topics in order to create awareness and outreach. These include posters, flyers, videos, brochures, leaflets, and so on. These collaterals will be widely used by our field staff in appraising our members on subjects such as digital payments, taking care of one’s health, important government schemes, etc. At SEWA Bharat, the Communications team is in charge of ensuring that timely and updated information reaches our members on topics of relevance to bridge the information asymmetry and bring information to the community.

The said person will be required to guide the best and most relevant visual design practices suitable for different stakeholders and topics. This involves the ideation, production and execution of creatives in the form of:

  • Print materials such as banners, awareness posters, brochures, handbooks, etc.
  • Photo editing
  • Publication & Layout designs

You will be required to collaborate with the teams to ensure consistency of designs across the verticals as per SEWA Bharat’s brand guidelines.

Key Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in graphic design or similar field
  • At least 1.5 years of experience working with design software such as Illustrator, Adobe, Figma, Photoshop, Procreate, Canva
  • Strong conceptual understanding of the grassroots and passion for gender equity
  • Ability to coordinate among various SEWA verticals and understand and conceptualize their requirements accordingly
  • Willingness to travel to the field
  • Ability to handle multiple projects at the same time
  • Good sense of typography, color, and composition
