About SEWA Bharat:

Self Employed Women’s Association (SEWA) is a movement to empower women working in the informal economy. SEWA Bharat is part of the national SEWA movement. Established in 1984, it is a national federation of SEWA organizations of women working in the informal economy. SEWA Bharat emerged out of the need to address the SEWA movement’s challenges with geographical expansion and coordination. SEWA Bharat comprises a family of SEWA organizations to further informal women workers’ rights, livelihoods, financial independence, education, health and social security.

Job Description:

The Research and Data vertical of SEWA Bharat carries out research on the lives and livelihoods of women in the informal sector. Their research mandate focuses on Entrepreneurship, the Social Solidarity Economy, Social Security, and Modalities/Arrangements of Work amongst other themes. that impact the lives of informal sector women workers. The team generates a variety of knowledge outputs (in both Hindi and English) ranging from reports, analytical notes, case studies, fact sheets, concept notes, pitch decks, and articles depending on the need of the stakeholder. 

Deliverables: The graphic design consultant will be closely working with the communications team to design publications and reports that best represent the work of Learning Hub. The consultant will be required to use existing templates created to redesign the various outputs that come out of the research vertical. This involves ideation, production and execution of creatives in the form of:

  • Reports
  • Case Studies
  • Analytical Notes, Research Instruments and Fact Sheets
  • Pitch Decks
  • Articles
  • LinkedIn Promotion Collaterals

You will be required to collaborate with the two teams to ensure consistency of designs across, as per the instructions. 

Additionally, the person will be responsible for regular uploading of creative outputs on SEWA Bharat’s website, training for which will be provided by the Communications Team.

Key Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in design or similar field.
  • Knowledge of Adobe Indesign is a must. 
  • Experience with other design softwares such as Illustrator, Photoshop, Procreate, Canva is an added advantage.
  • Strong conceptual understanding of the grassroots and passion for gender equity
  • Ability to coordinate amongst different teams, understand and conceptualize their requirements accordingly.
  • Ability to work in a time sensitive environment
  • Knowledge of WordPress is preferred. If not, willingness to learn it will be strongly appreciated


Work Timings: The work requires a strict adherence to deadlines. Consultant should be available for meetings with research and communications teams on the 10th, 20th and 30th of every month.

Stipend: INR 30,000

Duration: 3 Months (extension possible, if mutually agreeable)
