About the role

The role of Communications Coordinator will be to develop and lead a communication team in SEWA Bharat.The candidate is expected to build SEWA Bharat as a leading brand in the informal economy, especially in the field of women-run and women-operated social enterprises. Collaboration with media and establishing contacts internally and externally will be the key objective of the Manager.

Responsibilities

 

  • Develop and lead a communications unit in SEWA Bharat, a first-of-its kind initiative;
  • Coordinate and implement communication strategies to strengthen visibility of the work of SEWA Bharat;
  • Establish meaningful relationships internally across SEWA Bharat, and externally with consumers and media person;
  • Collaborate with media on various levels and initiate ideas to preserve and promote organization’s objectives.
  • Conduct on-page and off-page SEO for driving traffic to SEWA Bharat website and provide recommendations on optimising existing content
  • Develop and increase organisation’s digital presence
  • Design and develop key communications assets such as press releases, brochures and event-based collaterals for different stakeholders, while ensuring consistency with the organisation’s style guidelines;
  • Maintain content inventories, including photos, videos and design assets;
  • Assist with the planning and managing events

Requirements

  • Experience in building and managing a team, brand building of the organization and vendor management
  • Understanding and a background of writing proposals, newsletters and case studies (for internal communication)
  • Has a strong network and experience in Advertising or Public Relations
  • Should have a working knowledge of photo editing tools and illustrators
  • Only women candidates
  • Willingness to travel to different districts as the individual will have to do extensive travel to the field   

Educational experience

Bachelor’s or Masters in Communications / Development Communications / PR and Media Relations

SEWAs work with Social Enterprises

With over 40 years of its operations through struggle and development, SEWA members have promoted 144 social enterprises across states, which are all women-owned and women-operated. There are enterprises across sectors of agriculture, financial services, production, textiles and garments, health and social security, clean energy and urban services.

SEWA is now setting up a dedicated team to work with its social enterprises. This team will work to make them sustainable, research on their empowerment aspects and advocate for a more enabling policy and business environment.
